The 6th Grade INCLUDE classes are off to a great start! We’re acquainting the students with all of the technology tools available for their use. With the arrival of the new tables and chairs, students are learning to work cooperatively in their communities. It is an exciting time in the D wing!
Ms. Schulz and Mr. Zawodniak’s classes have departed from Grice on an "Amazing Race" around the world. Students are visiting eight countries to learn about different decimal concepts and practice their skills. Teams of students are currently backpacking through Paris where they are working together to problem solve. In order to move through customs, students must meet proficiency in each skill and get their passports stamped by their teacher. Teams are enjoying traveling together and learning about other cultures. Look for the results in the next newsletter.
Our 7th grade INCLUDE students are demonstrating their technology savvy and impressing their newly implementing teachers. Ms. Reyes and Ms. Rouse are amazed at the students’ abilities to work cooperatively in their communities to problem solve using manipulatives, laptops, and the SMART Board. Their growth has made this year a smooth and successful transition to 7th grade.
The students in Ms. Reyes and Ms Rouse’s classes are about to begin an Assistant Professor project. “Professors” will be developing a lesson plan to teach the class a segment of Chapter 2. Each professor will be associated with a University and the “Department Chair” (their teachers) will have to approve all lessons. The 7th grade teachers believe that their students are up for this challenge and are looking forward to learning with them. |
